Hurricane season is here. Please review your plans and ensure that your equipment/supplies are ready. Test those field antennas and generators! Contact Mike(KB5OZE) for any help or information.

Westside has joined the new Metro New Orleans Emmergency Communications Committee. This is a joint meeting with the local clubs and emmergency services agencies, including JARC, Coast Guard, New Orleans EOP, SELA-ARC and of course us. Steve(N5SC, Tom(KF6QJQ) and Mike(KB5OZE) are representing WARC in this "meeting of the minds". Click Here for the current frequency list.

Elections are being held at the June meeting. Please make an attempt to attend.

Steve(N5SC), Tom(KF6QJQ), Herb(N5AUC) and Mike(KB5OZE) are working with the Jefferson Parish EOC. Westside will be manning the new Amateur Radio Station that has been purchased and is being installed at the Ames Blvd facility. Contact Steve, N5SC for more information.

The 146.94 repeater has been replaced with a brand new Vertex VX-7000! It is working perfectly. Thanks to Steve, N5SC for helping the club purchase the repeater.

The 146.940 Repeater will be installed at its new hope atop West Jefferson Hospital on Friday August 11th at 1PM. All club members are encouraged and invited to help out with the installation. The DB-224 antenna is also repaired but we may be using the one that is already installed there.

WARC members contributed to the new SELA-ARES Emergency communications plan. It is now available for download  at the SELA-ARES website.

The classes WARC is conducting to train hospital employees to become hams is going well.

Elections were recently held and the installation banquet was held at Empress of China on Wednesday the 12th. Pictures should be up shortly. Congratulations to all the new officers!

WARC will be conducting some ham radio classes for employees of West Jefferson Hospital coming up soon, with testing sessions to follow. We are hoping some of these new hams will be active and join our club to replenish our membership ranks. WARC will be mighty again!

WARC is developing a local "emergency" communications plan to keep our members in touch with each other.

We have put a "member location map" together for our paid members. It is a set of maps that show each members location in relation to the other members.  Please click on the 'Members' page to add yourself if you are not already on there.

We will be changing the PL for the 146.94 repeater. It is currently off the air, pending installation in a new Motorola half height cabinet and rebuilding of a DB-224 antenna. The new PL will be 114.8. Also, the repeater will soon have a new home "up high" in a great westbank location with emergency power and a controlled environment. Details will be announced as soon.
