The Westside Amateur Radio Club, Inc. is the oldest such club in the New Orleans area. On July 1, 2012 the club celebrated it's 60th anniversary.

The purpose of the organization is threefold: it is an association of people who share a common interest in amateur radio; it promotes a community interest in amateur radio; it assists in communications for community events and for local emergencies.
The club sponsors bi monthly workshops where members come together to discuss and assemble amateur radio projects.
Club members volunteer to provide communication for local events. Some of these events include the Pirogue Races at Fort Jackson, the Century (bicycle) Ride, and the Special Olympics. Members also periodically simulate emergency events which require the set up of temporary radio stations for communications with otherwise unreachable sources. The club is available to provide such services in emergency events.
Our meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month at West Jefferson Medical Center at 1101 Medical Center Blvd in Marrero. We are usually in the Marrero-Westwego room. Meetings start around 7:00 pm with a meet-n-greet before at 6:30. Talk in is on the 146.94. Just call W5ABD for directions.
Our weekly nets are held every Thursday night at 8:30 pm local on the 146.94 repeater. The repeater uses a PL of 114.8. If your rig doesn't have PL simply wait for the repeater to drop and check in simplex on the output. After the 2 meter net, we have a 220 net on 224.120Mhz, pl 114.8hz. Offset is -1.6Mhz.
